Fall Recap: Girls Volleyball
This year, girls varsity volleyball finished the season 3-17. They were made up of a team of 9 seniors, 2 juniors, 2 sophomores and 2 freshman. Even though losing 17 games they brought many of these teams to the 5th set which proves their record didn't show how the team really was. The girls team lost a lot of key players from last year which means they had a young team, who gains experience for the season next year. Seniors Marissa Jurgelewicz, Jenny King (Captain), Danielle Currivan, and Junior Jasmine James were all key returners for Norwood who had strong individual seasons and helped get their wins. Freshman, Megan Olbrys, will be a huge asset to the team next year as she started to play more and more throughout the season, improving game on her serves and blocks. She got more and more kills throughout the season to help the Mustangs. Along with Meghan, Sophomore Lexi Currivan had a great season this year, starting every game and serving well for the Mustangs. Lexi Currivan stepped up being the key setter after the loss of Erin Spaulding who was the key setter last year. Overall, having a young team this season will lead to upcoming success for the Norwood volleyball team even though they will be losing key senior players.
